Slushpile

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026. This is a static website. We run no accounts, no newsletter, and no backend database. The practical effect is that we collect very little directly — but pages on this site do load third-party code for advertising, and that third-party code has its own privacy implications.

What Slushpile collects directly

Slushpile does not collect personal information from visitors directly. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other identifier in order to read pages or use the tools. There is no login and no account system.

The web server that delivers these pages produces standard access logs, as essentially every web server does. Those logs include IP address, timestamp, the URL requested, the HTTP status returned, and the user-agent string sent by your browser. Access logs are retained only as long as needed to diagnose technical problems and are not used to build profiles of individual visitors.

What the tools store

The interactive tools on this site — the submission tracker in particular — use your browser's localStorage to save the data you enter. localStorage is a per-site storage area controlled by your browser. The data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to Slushpile and cannot be read by other websites.

If you clear your browser's site data, use private browsing, or switch to a different browser or device, the data saved by the tools will not be available there. There is no sync and no cloud copy.

Third-party advertising

Slushpile displays advertising from third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense. Third-party ad vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu (in the EU).

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to Slushpile and/or other sites on the Internet. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and later make a purchase, Slushpile may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. The affiliate network sets its own cookies at the moment you click. See the disclaimer page for more detail.

Analytics

Slushpile may use privacy-respecting analytics to measure aggregate pageviews and referrers. Any analytics in use are configured to avoid collecting personal identifiers where possible. Aggregate, anonymous statistics are used to understand which guides are useful and which are not.

Children

Slushpile is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us so we can delete it.

Data requests and contact

Because Slushpile does not maintain user accounts, there is no account record to export or delete. For access, correction, or deletion requests relating to any information you believe we may hold, or for any other privacy question, contact privacy [at] slushpile.org.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the update date at the top of this page will change. Material changes will be summarized at the top of the page for a reasonable period.
